How Blood Alcohol Content is Measured

Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) is the percentage of alcohol present in your bloodstream. The **Widmark Formula** is the standard calculation used globally to estimate this level. It considers the total mass of alcohol consumed, your body weight, and the **r-factor** (volume of distribution), which differs between men and women due to average body fat and water composition.

The body typically metabolizes alcohol at a rate of approximately **0.015% per hour**. This means that time is the only true way to lower your BAC. While this calculator provides a helpful guide, it cannot account for individual biological variables. Always prioritize safety and use a designated driver or ride-share service.
