Why Proper Hydration Matters
Water is essential for nearly every bodily function, from regulating temperature to lubricating joints and flushing out waste. A common rule of thumb is to drink eight 8-ounce glasses a day, but **individual needs vary significantly** based on weight and lifestyle.
Our calculator uses a baseline of approximately **33ml of water per kilogram of body weight**. We then add roughly **350ml for every 30 minutes of exercise**, as you lose significant fluids through sweat. If you live in a hot climate, your body requires even more to maintain homeostasis and prevent dehydration symptoms like fatigue and headaches.
